Interesting Research

Came across this interesting abstract today at Molecular Autism. I have not read the full PDF yet, but it does appear that current research using modern technology is further identifying unique brain shapes, patterns and functions in those with Autism, to use layman terms. Much food for thought.

  1. I know it's not the same in every case, but my son was a fathead at birth, 2 standard deviations above the norm. The initial abnormal brain growth...always made me wonder if he was "of a type". The doctor didn't seem too concerned, just noted it.

It is amazing how quickly the base of knowledge is growing.

  3. Bill O'Slatter: The reference you had on your fb page was good :

,a genome wide association study (GWAS) , Fig 2 was especially good. GWAS are not the final on gene expression as there is another process on the genetic nuclear material called histone modification or epigenetics.

I forgot of add that the importance of that paper is how much ( a statistical test of some type) of particular phenotypes ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenotype ) are accounted for , without taking account of histone modification.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histone)

  6. Bill O'Slatter :Shazz, I'm doing a dissipation in Population Health on a small part of the immune system : a modest protein known as C-Reactive protein (CRP). It helps to know something ( not a lot) about GWASes, mainly how to use them to support some other argument.

  7. Then you would really enjoy the banter on Stop The Australian Vaccination Network. You know that anti vaxers often cite that vaccines compromise the immune system etc etc. Sounds like you would have a lot of wisdom to add to the page. Really appreciate you taking the time to stop by here and comment.
