Appointment with the Autsim Association of WA yesterday. They administer the Federal component of funding available for ASD kids in WA. There is also state funding distributed via Disability Services Commission. There's a lot of paperwork to prepare, and a range of difficult choices to make in terms of service providers and treatment models. I am fortunate enough to be linked in with a service and via my own research am happy with the treatment model (ABA/DDT if you are interested). But can't imagine how difficult it must be for already traumatised families to wade through all the information presented and make rational choices.
I take my hat off to parents of ASD kids who struggled emotionally and financially prior to these gov. subsidies being in place. Apparently most marriages didn't survive.
