I live in a large and prosperous state, yet we do not have a school dedicated to teaching kids on the autism spectrum. I know some awesome parents who are rallying to change that. If you want to show them some support you can join the FB page to stay up to date,

WA is the only state which has counted its <18 population.
ReplyDeleteWhere are all the students?
I have to homeschool my son (like many parents). He is HFASD but with ADHD and Tourette Syndrome (and encopresis). He was getting into trouble constantly from the teachers at his previous school.........it wasn't the other children so much, as it was Junior Primary,......but the teachers don't have the time, patience and special training required.
ReplyDeleteAt least at home he gets understanding, love, acceptance and more innovative ways of getting work done and the learning can continue without stress.
I really would appreciate an Autism School though as I am not looking forward to the High School years as a Home Educator......he needs more outside input.
