The Interwebs and news outlets are going crazy over an article in the British Medical Journal by well respected investigative journalist, Brian Deer. He states not only was Andrew Wakefield's claim that MMR led to Autism in a group of children bad science, but more shockingly, it was an "elaborate fraud". Anyone interested in reading the articles that abound currently on blogs and online media need only refer to my blog list (see right). Or google. So I wont bother going into details here. Just to say that the harm generated by Wakefield's claims is difficult to fathom. Yet he continues to treat ASD as a gravy train. Supported by anti vacc crusaders like Jenny McCarthy. Of course they take the line that Wakefield is the victim of a conspiracy involving pharmaceuticals, journalists, and scientists. Apparently these people have nothing better to do with their time.
Pox on your house Andrew.
He should be charged with manslaughter.
ReplyDeleteInteresting idea anon. I'm sure it's been discussed.
